The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is made up of family members, school staff and agency representatives. The CAC facilitates the communication and exchange of information between schools and families, advises the administration of the SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area) regarding their concerns and collaborates to solve them. CAC promotes activities that benefit students with disabilities and sponsors training for parents of children with disabilities.

WHO IS ON THE CAC? |
- Parents / guardians of individuals with special needs (the majority)
- Representatives of agencies that serve people with special needs
- Special education and general staff
- Current CAC Representatives

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE CAC? |
Members of the public are always welcome to attend CAC meetings and give input. If you have a concern or suggestion, the CAC will review it and give you written information about how it will be treated. If you prefer to speak with a CAC member privately or by phone, call the SELPA office at (805) 437-1560 for contact information, including the name of your school district representative.
