As Special Education students enter high school, planning for the transition to adult life becomes a critical part of the IEP process. As a Special Education teacher or specialist working with students in high school or older, you will work collaboratively with the student and their family to identify their dreams and goals for life after K12 public school. Transition planning includes taking specific courses, developing life skills, exploring career paths, participating in vocational experiences, and establishing connections with agencies dedicated to supporting adults with disabilities.
