LOCAL PLAN FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION

The purpose of the Local Plan is to:

• Outline the special education policies/procedures and services that are offered throughout the SELPA.
• Assure access to special education and related services for all individuals with exceptional needs residing within the geographic areas served by the plan
• Assure compliance with all Federal and State codes and statutes

Over the 2019-2020 school year, the  Ventura County SELPA, our Community Advisory Committee (CAC) and members of other stakeholder groups, cooperatively revised and edited the Local Plan to meet the needs of our SELPA. On June 19, 2020, the Ventura County SELPA’s Superintendent’s Policy Council approved the amended Local Plan.  During the 2020-2021 school year, all member districts within the Ventura County SELPA posted the updated Local Plan on their websites and the final submission was made to the California Department of Education (CDE) on June 22, 2020.

The Local Plan contains the elements required to be submitted to the California Department of Education.  The Policies and Procedures Manual is a "user's manual" with specific details about how we provide Special Education Services here in Ventura County SELPA.
